David Shaffer, a blind civil rights attorney and lifelong advocate for marginalized communities, died after being pulled from the basement of a burning Montgomery County home. Improperly Disposed Smoking Materials Possibly To Blame For Maryland Garage Fire
The cause of a massive fire that tore through a Montgomery County garage and damaged a home has been determined to possibly be improperly disposed smoking materials, investigators say. Late on Friday afternoon, first responders were called to the 13600 block of Cherrydale Drive near Glenn Mill Road in Rockville, where there was a reported fire in a garage that spread to an area home. One firefighter was injured and a dog perished in an overnight two-alarm fire that broke out behind a Harford County townhouse.
