Irishmen Posed As Phony Roofers: Readington Township PD Two people from Ireland were arrested and charged on Monday, Sept. 16 with running a scam in Readington Township, pretending to be credentialed roofers, authorities said. In March, Ashley Reilly, 37, presented himself as the owner of Fitzpatrick Construction in Bound Brook with Patrick Ward, 41, who used the pseudonym 'Jack" as his foreman, Readington Township Police said. Shooting Suspects At Large In Newark: Police (Photo) Police are looking for multiple suspects in connection with a shooting in Newark on Saturday, Aug. 24, authorities said. At 8:51 p.m., police responded to Dickerson Street near Hecker Street on a report of shots fired, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. Police did not locate any victims, but observed that a vehicle parked in the area and a residential building in the area were both struck by gunfire, Fragé said. 18-Year-Old Newark Man Busted In Union Twp Home Break-In: Police An 18-year-old Newark man was arrested and charged after breaking into a home in Union Township on Wednesday, Sept. 18, authorities said. At 6:20 a.m., officers responded to a home on Andrew Street Park who said his home was being broken into, Union Township Police said. Teen Football Player Airlifted After Losing Feeling In Legs In Sparta, Police Say A 13-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after he was injured playing football on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 21, in Sussex County authorities said. At 8:11 p.m., the boy was playing football at Station Park in Sparta Township when he temporarily lost feeling in his legs, Sparta Township Police Captain Thomas Snyder said. An Atlantic Air helicopter transported the boy to Morristown Medical Center, Snyder said. The young athlete regained feeling in both legs before the helicopter arrived, but was still hospitalized for for further evaluation, Snyder said.

Man Purposely Hit Goose With E-Bike, Hoboken Police Say A 30-year-old Hoboken man was arrested and charged on Wednesday, Sept. 11 after he intentionally hit a goose with an e-bike, authorities said. At 5:35 p.m., officers responded to Pier A park on reports that a person hit a goose on purpose with a bike, Hoboken police said. Police found Andrew Mullin, who fit the description of the individual, and arrested him, officers said. Mullin was charged with cruelty to animals and issued summons for riding an e-bike on a walkway, police said. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, police said.

Former Flemington Councilman Gets Four Years For Distributing Cocaine: Prosecutor A former councilman in Flemington was sentenced to four years in prison on Friday, Sept. 20 after pleading guilty to distributing cocaine, authorities said. Malik Johnston a.k.a. Pippin Folk has faced numerous legal problems. Man Gets 16 Years For Fatal New Year's Day Jersey City Stabbing: Prosecutor A 49-year-old Jersey City man was sentenced to 16 years in state prison on Thursday, Sept. 19 for fatally stabbing a man on New Year's Day 2021. At 2:45 a.m., Jersey City police located Tyrone Haskins, a 39-year-old Jersey City resident at 333 Ocean Ave. with a stab wound to his torso, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 3:20 a.m. Darius Evans was sentenced after pleading guilty to aggravated manslaughter in May, Suarez said.
