Granby Man Charged After Shooting Bear That Killed His Chickens A Connecticut homeowner has been charged after he said he shot and killed a black bear that broke into an enclosure and killed some of his chickens, state environmental police said.  Michael Gero, 39, called the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on Friday night, Sept. 25, to report the shooting.
