Child Accidentally Sets Elkton Shed Ablaze, Damages Home: Fire Marshal
A child who accidentally set a fire inside a Cecil County shed caused thousands of dollars in damage to his family's home, officials say. Late in the afternoon on Friday, Aug. 16, crews from the Singerly Fire Company responded to a home on Hollingsworth Manor in Elkton, where a homeowner reported that their tarp-covered shed was on fire. More than two dozen firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames and get the fire under control, but not before it caused approximately $25,000 in damage. A teenager in Baltimore has been convicted of killing a 27-year-old father while on his way to visit his young daughter, the Maryland Attorney General's Office announced. Parris Harris, 19, has been found guilty of the first-degree murder of Desmond Gardner in January 2023 following a three-day trial earlier this month. Man And Girl Killed, Woman Injured In Maryland Triple-Shooting: Police
A man and girl were killed, and a woman was wounded in a triple-shooting in Maryland Wednesday night, Feb. 28. It happened in a home on the 6900 block of Stansbury Lane in Landover around 9:30 p.m., Prince George’s County Police said. Officers found three wounded from gunfire and pronounced the man and girl dead at the scene. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Firearm Buyback To Be Held For The First Time In Baltimore
Baltimore's first firearm buyback event is scheduled to be held next weekend, County officials report. The Baltimore County Police Department and the NAACP, Baltimore County Chapter, in partnership with the Kingdom Worship Center and Brooks Clinton Funeral Service, are jointly hosting the buyback event.
