Loved ones in Virginia say Chance Burrell had a gift for lifting spirits, whether with a laugh, a hug, or his unforgettable smile before his unexpected death at 27.
Burrell was struck and killed by a driver shortly after midnight on Saturday, Sept. 13, when a Toyota Camry was heading south on Dorset Road, according to Virginia State Police.
Burrell, a Powhatan County native, was standing along the roadway when he was fatally struck by the driver, who cooperated with investigators following the crash, police said.

The 43-year-old prosecutor suffered "sudden unexpected death in epilepsy," The Virginian-Pilot reports, citing the State Medical Examiner's Office.
Aber, the former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, was found unresponsive around 9:18 a.m. Saturday, March 22, inside a home on the 900 block of Beverley Drive in Alexandria, as previously reported by Daily Voice.

DUI, Unlicensed Driver Kills Maryland Hockey Coach, Dad David Funk: 'Unimaginable'
Maryland hockey coach and father of five David Funk was killed by an uninsured, unlicensed, and intoxicated driver in Delaware on Tuesday, Jan 21, authorities confirmed.
State police say 28-year-old Fidel Villatoro-Martinez ran a red light and struck Funk, 51, around 10:40 p.m. Funk was hospitalized, as was his 16-year-old passenger, identified in a campaign for his family as his son, David Jr. Funk died the following day, police said.
