Weeks after a young Silver Spring man was shot and killed on I-70 in Maryland, police say they’ve arrested two suspects in the highway ambush that left two others hurt.
Francisco Javier Sanchez-Juarez, 28, and Jeffrey Josue Diaz, 24, both of Howard County, were taken into custody without incident on Saturday, June 29, 2025, according to Maryland State Police.
They are charged with first-degree murder and multiple firearm-related offenses and are being held without bond at the Frederick County Detention Center, officials said.

Septic Truck Flips, Dump Truck Crashes Into Trees On Route 7 Near MD Border: State Police
A septic truck rolled, a dump truck slammed into trees, and a driver had to be cut out of the wreck — all on a Loudoun County highway, Virginia State Police said.
Troopers responded at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, June 13, to a wreck on the ramp from Route 267 west to the Route 7 Bypass, according to police.
One dump truck ended up smashed into trees. The other truck, a fully loaded septic hauler, rolled onto its side and pinned the driver in the seat.
The right and center lanes of Route 7 Bypass were shut down, along with the ramp, while fire crews worked to rescue the driver.

A community is mourning a young woman known for her creativity, love of animals, and bright spirit after she was tragically killed in a Virginia crash.
Alysia Marie Coffelt, 28, of Edinburg, died Friday, April 25, from injuries she sustained in a three-vehicle crash along John Marshall Highway, Virginia State Police said.
The crash happened at 8:35 a.m. just east of Back Road when a Ford F-250 crossed the double solid yellow centerline, sideswiping a Subaru Outback and then colliding head-on with the Toyota Camry Coffelt was driving.

Prince George's Man Hurt After Car Strikes Toll Barrier In New Jersey: Police
A 23-year-old Maryland man was injured after his car struck a toll barrier on the Atlantic City Expressway on Saturday, April 19, authorities said.
At 2:44 a.m., troopers responded to Hamilton Township after a Kia Sportage, traveling westbound, struck the attenuator at the Egg Harbor Toll Plaza, then impacted the concrete curb and concrete barrier, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State police said.
The driver, a resident of Oxon Hill, sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Lebron said.
The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.
