A beloved Maryland mother who captured the hearts of the DMV region in the wake of a devastating crash in Pennsylvania has died, her family confirmed.
Margo Cook, 39, who recently started a new job at Boonsboro Elementary in Maryland, was hit by a car while crossing the road in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, on Friday, April 25, according to police.
She was walking with her dog, Mae, following a softball game when she was struck, her family said.

Oliver Hernandez-Caballero, 26, of Damascus, was sentenced on Tuesday, April 1, to 25 years in prison with all but 14 years suspended after being convicted of first-degree child abuse, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.

More than 10,000 toddler stools sold on Amazon have been recalled after several children were injured in collapsing incidents — including one case where a child suffered a brain injury.
The recall affects about 10,300 Onasti Toddler Tower Stools, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, Mar. 13. The stools can tip over or collapse during use, creating serious fall hazards.

A Temple University freshman died after falling from a light pole in Philadelphia while celebrating the Eagles’ victory on Sunday, Jan. 26, school officials said.
Tyler Sabapathy, 18, was critically injured over the weekend and later passed away on Monday, Temple University President John Fry said in a statement.
“The loss of a promising 18-year-old man like Tyler is both tragic and traumatic. There are no words that can make sense of it, and the entire Temple community mourns his passing,” Fry said.
