These Party City Stores To Shut Down In Maryland, Virginia Amid Massive Closure
Dozens of Party City locations in the DMV region are among the hundreds set to be closed as the company announced it is going out of business. Both Maryland and Virginia were hit hard by the reported closure, which will impact approximately 800 stores across the country. Party City was founded in 1986 and is the largest retailer of party goods in North America. This story has been updated. A Virginia pilot who regularly flew dogs in need to safe homes around the country was killed when his small plane crashed in a remote area of New York. The Greene County incident happened in the Town of Windham at around 6:10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. Sheriff’s officials said a single-engine Mooney plane was traveling from Maryland to Albany carrying the pilot and three dogs when it crashed in a remote area. Authorities in Maryland have released the name of a 31-year-old rider who was killed after crashing his motorcycle into the back of a white work van being driven by a Virginia man. In Calvert County, Waldorf resident Jesse Lee Wallace was killed shortly before 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, in Prince Frederick when he crashed into the van in the area of Solomons Island Road and Auto Drive. Authorities have identified the man killed at a Red Roof Inn in Stafford County over the weekend. Deputies said Leo Franklin, 47, of Maryland, died at the Warrenton Road motel in Stafford just after 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 19. George Pearson III, 44, of Stafford, reportedly shot him and then fled the scene in a silver Toyota Tacoma, still armed with the handgun, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said. Authorities got a murder suspect to surrender over FaceTime as he led a police pursuit on Interstate 95 in Virginia, they said.
