Maryland Woman Killed At Rice University 'Was Beacon Of Light, Source Of Inspiration' The Maryland woman who was killed in an apparent murder-suicide shortly after returning to Rice University for the new semester is being remembered as a "vibrant soul who brought warmth and joy wherever she went."  This week, Nottingham resident Andrea Rodriguez Avila was identified as the person found during a welfare check by campus police at the university, where she was an incoming junior. Maryland Baseball Player Jonah Baney Dies In Crash, Hearts Shatter Hearts shattered across Baltimore County as hundreds of people mourned the sudden death of Jonah Baney, who died in a car crash, those who knew him said. Baney, 19, lived in Arbutus and graduated from Lansdowne High School in 2020. He was playing baseball for Community College of Baltimore County and had plans to play for Salisbury University next year, according to his obituary.
