On Thursday, April 20, crews from the Susquehanna Hose Company were called to extinguish the fire along the tracks in the area of Quarry Road in Havre de Grace, though it proved a precarious task due to the surroundings.

Due to the pesky fire, rail traffic was stopped in the area at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, and additional resources have been called in to assist in containing the flames while monitoring from the Ontario Street railroad crossing.

Upward of two dozen firefighters were initially called to the scene, including two chiefs, and multiple engines.

It is unclear what caused the fire, or where it originated.
