Breakheart Reservation Fire In Saugus Ignited By 5 Fires, Mass DCR Says A multi-acre brush that has been burning for a week started from five individual fires, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) said. The fires at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus were ignited on Wednesday, Aug. 17, DCR said. Two of the fires later merged into one larger fire and another fire also started, DCR added.  In total, the blaze has burned through 79 acres. Monday rainfall did bring some temporary relief, but the persistent drought conditions in Massachusetts have made it extremely difficult for crews to contain the flames.  Lynnfield Fire Squad 1 …

Wildfire In Connecticut State Park Contained A wildfire in a Connecticut state park has been contained after burning for a day. A fire in the Potash Brook area of the Natchaug State Forest in Windham was extinguished in the evening on Thursday, Sept. 17. Wildfire consumed 94 acres of parkland, said the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Wildfire Burning In Connecticut Has Consumed Acres Of Parkland A wildfire that has consumed 50 acres is burning in Connecticut. Wildlife in Natchaug State Forest off Route 203 and the Air Line Trail has been burning since Wednesday, Sept. 16, afternoon, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said.
