'I Deserve What I'm Getting': Athol Man Gets 6-12 Years For Fatal 2019 Crash A Worcester County man has been sentenced to 6-12 years in state prison in connection with a fatal 2019 crash in Western Massachusetts, authorities said. Multiple Injuries Reported After Drag Racing Incident In Region A crash involving a car allegedly drag racing along a busy roadway left several people injured in Western Massachusetts.  The crash took place around 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 19 when the vehicle's driver lost control and slammed into the Avis/Budget Car Rental building on Riverdale Street in West Springfield, said authorities. According to Lt. Anthony Spear, of the West Springfield Fire Department, when crews arrived on the scene, they found a 2021 BMW inside the building with the driver trapped.
