Western Mass Artist Tackles Faith, Family In New Historical Fiction Book Matthew Brinton admits he's more comfortable working as a visual artist, but he felt compelled to write "Tales from a Bygone Era," his first book.  The historical-fiction thriller follows multiple characters as they navigate their way through the turbulence of the early 1960s and 1970s.  "The characters are in a lot of ways based on my parents and people they knew growing up," Brinton said in an interview with the Daily Voice. Barnes & Noble Brings 2 New Locations To Massachusetts, Bouncing Back After Pandemic Massachusetts book lovers will have two new options for their next binge as bookseller giant Barnes & Noble continues to expand at an "unprecedented" rate.  Barnes & Noble announced that it would open 30 new stores in 2023 on top of the 16 stores opened in 2022, a sharp contrast to the store's pandemic-era closings and furloughs reported by Publisher's Weekly. At least two of the 30 new stores will open in Massachusetts, one in Sherwood Plaza in Natick and the other in Wareham, Barnes & Noble told Daily Voice. Plaza Gains A Retailer But Loses A Bookseller As one large retailer exits Lincoln Plaza, another is slated to come in. Bookseller Barnes & Noble is closing its Lincoln Plaza location in Worcester on Oct. 31, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. Barnes & Noble has been in that location since 2004. While Barnes exits, TJ Maxx is slated to move its Greendale Mall store on Neponset Street to Lincoln Plaza on Lincoln Street.
