2 Shot In Worcester: Negotiators Trying To Talk Alleged Gunman Out Of Home

Update: Police arrested the 24-year-old man accused of shooting two family members after a 13-hour stand-off, authorities said

The man, whose name was not released per state domestic violence laws, locked himself in his Colby Avenue home around 8:30 a.m. Friday, July 7. He exchanged fire with police off and on throughout the day, but after he stepped outside around 9:30 p.m., officers were able to wound him and take him into custody, officials said.

Police are surrounding the 24-year-old man's home, and hostage negotiators are attempting to talk him out peacefully around 1:30 p.m. after he fired on officers who responded to reports of a shooting earlier that morning, Worcester police said. Authorities have 

A man and woman were taken from the home with injuries and are being treated at an area hospital. Authorities said the victims are related to the alleged shooter. 

Worcester police have blocked off much of the area since 8:30 a.m. as they try to talk the man out of the house. They've asked everyone to stay away until negotiators or SWAT teams can remove the man and de-escalate the situation.
