A judge sentenced a Springfield man who shot his rival six times to at least a dozen years behind bars — if not longer, authorities announced. Edgar Gomez-Diaz was convicted on seven charges, including armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, and multiple firearms charges, the Hampden District Attorney's Office said. Man Facing Charges For Involvement In Western Mass Shooting
A Western Mass man is facing numerous charges for his alleged involvement in a shooting that left one person seriously injured. Edgar Gomez-Diaz, age 36, of Springfield, was arrested on Tuesday, May 4, after an officer heard gunshots in the area of Spring and Pearl Streets and located a man who was shot on Spring Street around 12:20 p.m., said Springfield Police Spokesman Ryan Walsh.
