Suspected DUI Driver Crashes Into Power Pole, Narrowly Avoids Western Mass Home A driver had to be cut from their car late Friday night, July 14, after they lost control of the vehicle, glanced off of a tree in someone's front yard before crashing into a power pole in Franklin County, authorities said.  Bernardston police were the first to reach the wreckage on Keets Brook Road around 10:30 p.m. and found the mangled car on its side, propped up by the pole, Bernardston police said in a Facebook post. Western Mass Motorcyclist, 66, Killed In Crash On Route 2 In Charlemont: Police A 66-year-old man has died after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle in Western Massachusetts this week, according to authorities.  Gregory Herzig, of Colrain, was killed in the crash that happened on Route 2 in Charlemont around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, Massachusetts State Police report. Initial investigation suggested that a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, going east, pulled over to the side of the road before making a U-turn when a Harley Davidson struck the SUV. Police Cruiser In Western Mass Struck By Vehicle A police cruiser driven by a Western Mass chief of police was rear-ended while waiting to make a turn. The crash took place in Franklin County around 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 2 in Gill. According to Gill PD Chief Christopher Redmond, who was driving the vehicle, he was waiting to turn left onto Turners Falls Road in Bernardston when the crash occurred. Franklin County resident Brenda Louise Perrea, of Northfield, was killed around 3:15 p.m., Thursday, May 13, after her vehicle crashed into a cement abutment under the Interstate 91 overpass on Bernardston Road in Greenfield, said Laurie Loisel, spokeswoman for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.
