A Worcester County mom had one thing to say after winning $1 million in the Massachusetts State Lottery: "I'm going to Disney World!" Lisa Smith, of Northbridge, won the seven-figure sum playing the “$2,000,000 50X Cashword” $10 scratch-off game. She chose to take the lump-sum payment of $650,000 (before taxes) rather than the annuity. She plans to buy herself a new car and take her two children to Disney World with the cash. Smith bought the ticket at Cumberland Farms, 2222 Providence Road in Northbridge. The store will get a $10,000 bonus for the sale.

Kenneth Bernard won the six-figure prize playing the “$2,000,000 50X Cashword” $10 scratch-off game. He chose to take the lump sum of $650,000 (before taxes) rather than the annuity. Bernard said he plans to buy a new car with the money. He didn't specify what kind. He bought the ticket at Pride Station & Store at 13 N. Main St. in East Longmeadow. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale.

Holyoke Lottery Winner Sees Connection To Her Mom In $1M Prize
Holyoke has a new millionaire after a woman won a seven-figure prize on a scratch-off lottery ticket last month, officials said. Patricia Liardi won the $1 million prize as part of the $2,000,000 50X Cashword game. Liardi will walk away with $650,000 after electing to take the lump sum rather than the annuity payments, state lottery officials said. Liardi noted her winning ticket was number 36, the same year her mom was born. Liardi bought the ticket at Stop & Go at 399 Hillside Ave. in Holyoke.
