$1M Lottery Jackpot: Springfield Man Has Plans For His Big Win
A Springfield man who won $1 million in the state lottery said he already knows the first thing he will buy with the money. Kenneth Bernard won the six-figure prize playing the “$2,000,000 50X Cashword” $10 scratch-off game. He chose to take the lump sum of $650,000 (before taxes) rather than the annuity. Bernard said he plans to buy a new car with the money. He didn't specify what kind. He bought the ticket at Pride Station & Store at 13 N. Main St. in East Longmeadow. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale.

An American Airlines flight to Boston was forced to make an emergency landing in Albany. Flight 4716, operating under the airline’s regional brand American Eagle, was enroute from Indianapolis when it experienced an electrical issue at around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has ordered a recall of two different charcuterie meat trays after they were linked to a salmonella outbreak. A voluntary recall has been issued across seven states for BrightFarms spinach and four salad kits, the FDA announced on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The recall includes spinach grown by BrightFarms's supplier, Element Farms, located in Pompton Plains, New Jersey.
