Drugs, Gun Arrest In Chelsea As Police Increase Patrols In One Neighborhood Chelsea police have increased their presence around Congress, Shawmut, and Maverick streets as officers have noticed an uptick in drug crimes there. Investigators arrested a 37-year-old man on drug and gun charges over the weekend.  Ramon Valdez was arrested on Sunday, Nov. 6, after police spotted him making "illegal transactions" around 9 p.m., Chelsea police said. When officers went to handcuff him, Valdez fought back. Woman Busted With Fentanyl, Crack As Chelsea Police Boost Drug Operations Chelsea police officials said they noticed a recent increase in drug activity in a neighborhood, so they upped their patrols there. Authorities say that strategy is paying dividends after officers arrested a woman last week with fentanyl and crack.  Erica Muniz Rivera, 31, was arrested on Friday, Nov. 4, after a traffic stop, Chelsea police said. Officers said they found 91 grams of what they believe is the synthetic opioid and nearly 30 grams of rock cocaine.
