'There's A Grenade In My Car': Man's Comment Spark Response In Stow — More Dud Than Deadly A man prompted a full response from multiple police and firefighter agencies in Middlesex County after he walked into a building and reported that he had found a grenade in the trunk of his car.  Stow first responders and members of multiple bomb squads rushed to the area on Friday, March 22. Police cleared the area around 2:15 p.m. and bomb techs prepared to get to work.  The man was telling the truth. He was 101 years old. Lear, known for creating such iconic situation comedies as "All In the Family," and "Maude," was born in Connecticut in 1922 in New Haven, the eldest child of Jeanette and Hyman "Herman" Lear, a traveling salesman.
