Redevelopment of the old Racing Oil Service Station property at 181 Center St., in Chicopee, recently received a $10,000 MassDevelopment grant to help local leaders and community members turn the remediated lot into a “Transformative Development Initiative” district. Charter School Buys Building For $7 Million Supporters of a local charter school spent $7 million to purchase the building that houses the academic program. Friends of Baystate Academy Charter Public School in Springfield purchased the school’s building at 2001 Roosevelt Ave. in June, but was only recently announced. The building had been owned by Polman Realty LLC. The seller’s representative, Lee & Associates, said the friends' group purchased the building support of the school’s college preparatory, healthcare-focused curriculum.
