911 Callers Alert Police To Wrong-Way Driver On Highway In Region A wrong-way driver who was allegedly driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol was nabbed by Connecticut State Police after numerous motorists called 911. The incident took place in Litchfield County around 1:30 a.m., Friday, May 19 on Route 8 in Torrington. According to state police, Litchfield County Dispatch began receiving 911 calls reporting a vehicle traveling southbound on Route 8 in the northbound lanes in the area of Exit 43 in Torrington. 41-Year-Old Killed In Crash At Shopping Plaza In Region A 41-year-old man was killed in a crash between a Jeep Wrangler and a motorcycle at a Connecticut shopping plaza. It happened in Litchfield County around 10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13, on East Main Street in Torrington. The 2011 Jeep Wrangler, driven by 58-year-old Daniel Gnitzcavich, of the Town of Harwinton, was attempting a left-hand turn across the eastbound lanes into the Market 32 Plaza, said Detective Kevin Tieman, of the Torrington Police.
