High School Student In Region Killed In Crash A 15-year-old Connecticut high school student who was a police cadet was struck and killed while riding his bike. The crash happened around 3 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 20 in Hartford County, in the parking lot of a Mobile gas station in Berlin, at 2005 Berlin Turnpike. Police responded to the gas station for a report of a car striking a bicycle, said Berlin Chief of Police Matthew McNally. The victim, Chase Anderson, of Berlin, was transported to the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain where he was pronounced dead, police said. Police say the driver remained on the scene. Dump Truck V. Bicycle Crash Leaves 50-Year-Old Man In Critical Condition A 50-year-old man is in critical condition after the bicycle he was riding collided with a 16-wheeler dump truck Thursday, Sept. 10. The accident happened around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Appleton and Bowers streets in Holyoke, the Holyoke Fire Department said. Firefighters had to use a forklift from Sullivan Metals for the extrication at the scene. The name of the 50-year-old man on the bicycle has not been released, but firefighters said he was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The accident is being investigated by Holyoke and State police.
