2 Hospitalized After SUV Smashes Into Groveland Assisted Living Center A Lexus SUV crashed into an Essex County assisted living center, injuring the driver as well as people inside the building, officials say.  A Lexus RX350 SUV smashed into an assisted living center located at 1 Nichols Way in Groveland around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 24, according to the Groveland Fire Department.  Two people inside the multi-family unit were injured, as well as the SUV's 83-year-old driver. The house was on fire, and they needed to get out now.  Russell called the Merrimac Fire Department and rushed outside just after 2 p.m. There was nothing she could do but watch the flames grow stronger and engulf her Skunk Road home. 3-Alarm Fire In Merrimac Destroys Home, Sends 3 Firefighters To Hospital Three firefighters were wounded and rushed to a hospital for help Sunday afternoon, Aug. 7, while battling a house fire in Essex County, authorities said.  The fire began just after 2 p.m. on Skunk Road in Merrimac. When the first crew of firefighters arrived on the scene, flames nearly engulfed the entire home, and firefighters had to call for backup, the Merrimac Fire Department said.
