Andover Police responded to a home at 48 Porter Road after receiving a call around 3:21 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker reports. Responding officers found three people inside the home who were all dead after being shot.
They were later identified as a 12-year-old Sebastian Robinson, his 55-year-old Linda and 56-year-old father Andrew, who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Tucker reports.
Therefore, authorities said the incident appears to be a case of domestic violence and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
“Obviously, we know the how; we’re trying to figure out the why right now, so we’re going to need some time to figure that out,” Andover Police Chief Patrick Keefe said during a news conference.
Sebastian was a sixth grader at St. John's Preparatory in Danvers, which canceled class for the day. He was described as "a wonderful young man" by Head of School Ed Hardiman during a press conference later Thursday morning.
Hardiman said Sebastian was "very connected" to St. John's music and campus ministry programs. He was also "well-loved" by his teachers and "extraordinarily creative."
"He was a kind and gentle presence," Hardiman continued. "He was a very gentle soul who felt very grateful to be a part of the Prep community."
The school will have a community prayer service in Sebastian's memory at the Mahoney Wellness Center at 5 p.m. and additional resources are being made available to help the community cope.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
