On Sunday, June 4, state police officials say that a woman was hiking with her husband in a remote area near Beaverdam Creek in Salisbury when she took a tumble and suffered an injury in Wicomico County.

First responders from the Salisbury Fire Department were able to locate the woman, but had to request the Maryland State Police helicopter for the rescue due to both the nature of her injury and the slippery slope she found herself in.

The woman was treated at the scene of her fall until state police were able to track down the injured hiker.

She was subsequently stabilized and hoisted approximately 80 feet above what was described as "dense tree cover" to the helicopter, which rushed her to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital for evaluation of undisclosed injuries.
