New Windsor Man Killed After Vehicle Violently Strikes Tree
Police are investigating a Howard County collision that killed a New Windsor man after his vehicle struck a tree, authorities say. Samuel Wayne Bowman Jr., 62, was pronounced dead at the scene after he lost control of his vehicle on eastbound Frederick Road near Daisy Road, around 9:44 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7, according to Howard County police. A second man in the vehicle was rushed to University of Maryland Shock Trauma with serious injuries. Frederick Road near Daisy Road was closed for around four hours following the crash.

Drugged Driver Sentenced For Vehicular Manslaughter In Fatal Maryland Crash
A Maryland man will spend years behind bars after driving with a host of drugs in his system, crashing, and killing his passenger in Harford County, the State’s Attorney’s Office announced. Attempted Murder Suspect Charged In Shooting Laurel Police Officer (

An attempted murder suspect from Laurel has been charged in connection with shooting an officer while serving an arrest warrant, authorities said. Christopher Simms, 23, shot a Laurel Police officer while police were serving an arrest and search warrant in the 100 block of Bryan Court just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, the department said. The 35-year-old officer was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma for treatment and was released later the same day, the department said. His name was not released. Suspect Rams Police Car, Crashes After Chase In Howard County
A man was arrested after ramming a police car, and leading officers on a chase that ended in a crash in Columbia (Howard County) on Wednesday evening, authorities said. An officer conducting an area check at a shopping center in the 6400 block of Dobbin Road noticed a man trying to break into cars around 5:50 p.m., Howard County police said.
