Authorities say that a Virginia man is facing federal charges in Maryland for brandishing a handgun and acting violently during incidents on I-495 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Lavar William Henderson, 44, of Richmond, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for being a felon in possession of a firearm after he allegedly pointed a gun with a red laser at other motorists on the busy roadways, according to prosecutors. Ex-Virginia State Police Trooper Dead After Abducting California Teen, Killing Her Family
A former Virginia State Police trooper was killed in a shootout with police who say he traveled across the country to Riverside, California, where he abducted a teenage girl he met online, before killing her mom, grandmother, and grandfather. Austin Lee Edwards, 28, of North Chesterfield, parked in a neighbor’s driveway and allegedly set the family’s home on fire before kidnapping the teen he “catfished” on Friday, Nov. 25, according to the Riverside Police Department. Authorities have arrested the suspect wanted in the University of Virginia shooting that left three people dead and two wounded on Sunday, Nov. 13. Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., a UVA student and former walk-on football player from the Petersburg area, was taken into custody just before 11 a.m., according to the UVA Police Department.
