Road Rage Incident Led To Shooting In Baltimore's Northwest District; Police ID Suspect

A man charged with a string of violent crimes in 2019 was identified as the suspect in Wednesday night’s Baltimore shooting, which police say was motivated by a road rage incident.

Troy Barnes, 21, of Baltimore, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, Baltimore Police announced Thursday afternoon, Feb. 29.

Barnes is accused of shooting a 46-year-old man during a road rage incident between the two on the 1200 block of Hilton Parkway.

The man was found with several gunshot wounds shortly before 4:35 p.m. and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police found Barnes and took him into custody near the 3000 block of Arunah Avenue a short time later.

According to WBALTV, Jones was arrested for an armed carjacking, assault and other offenses in 2019. He was 16 at the time.

Jones is being held at the Central Booking Intake Facility.
