Every Wednesday, firefighters will post red signs on the front and back of homes that may have hazards that can't be immediately seen. Each home will be entered into a database that will warn first-responders of the potential dangers if a call is made to that home. So far, over 700 homes have been identified, the outlet continues.

A similar program was started in 2010, but soon after abandoned. In January, three first responders died while on a call at a vacant structure that collapsed during a fire. Residents who have concerns about vacant structures can call 311 to report them. To read the full report by WBAL TV, click here.
