Baltimore Sexual Health Clinic Exposes Workers To Bloodborne Pathogens: Report

A Baltimore sexual health clinic was found to be putting employees at risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens after it was discovered that unsafe needles were being used, reports WBAL.

The Druid Sexual Health Clinic is the center of controversy after Maryland Occupational Safety and Health uncovered several safety problems, including dead rats, needles without safety covers, hazardous cleaning materials, and a lack of training and exposure plans, continues the outlet. 

The clinic was investigated after reports of needles without safety covers, which the Baltimore City Health Department says has been addressed and has not happened since. The Baltimore City Health Department also stated that their response to monkeypox was a distraction to addressing other concerns raised by Maryland Occupational Safety and Health regarding the clinic.
