9 Dead In Fire At Massachusetts Assisted Living Facility
Nine people died in a late-night fire at an assisted living facility in Massachusetts, fire officials said.
The fire broke out around 9:50 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at the Gabriel House on Oliver Street in Fall River, according to Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon, Police Chief Kelly Furtado, State Fire Marshal Jon Davine, and Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III.
When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke and flames at the front of the building with occupants trapped inside, officials said. Crews immediately went in, rescuing many residents while battling the fire.

Walgreens announced this past fall that it will close about 1,200 stores over three years amid a decline in prescription drug payments and a rise in online competition.
About 500 of those closures will be in 2025.

Dunkin', McDonald's, Subway Franchisees Fined $226K+ For Child Labor Violations In MA
The owners of nearly 90 Dunkin', McDonald's, and Subway restaurants across Massachusetts have been fined for violating child labor laws, officials said.
The three franchisees were cited for violating child labor laws at more than 88 locations, Attorney General Andrea Campbell said in a news release on Tuesday, April 15. The companies punished were Cafua Management Company, The Brewster Company, and Knight Food Service.
The trio faces a combined $226,385 in penalties under separate settlements with the fair labor division of the attorney general's office.

Recent College Grad Killed In Thanksgiving Day Crash In South Massachusetts
A recent college graduate who was gearing up to take on the world had his life tragically cut short this past week.
Holdjer Decarvalho, age 22, of Fall River, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on I-195 in Westport on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 24, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office reports.
Decarvalho, who was the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle burst into flames, the office continues.
