Murder Arrest: Fitchburg Man Charged In 2021 Leominster Slaying Of Teenager

Police didn't need to look far to find the man they say shot and killed a teen in Leominster in 2021. He was already in jail on an unrelated charge.

Wilbert I. Nieves, 25, of Fitchburg, was arrested and charged with murder in the 2021 killing of a 19-year-old, the Worcester County District Attorney announced Monday, May 22. The body of Franklin Mane was found in an overgrown area near a parking lot at 46 Industrial Road.

He had been shot multiple times.

Mane had been missing for more than two months when police found his body. Though, investigators did not say how long he had been dead.

Nieves will be arraigned on a murder charge this week. He was already being held in a Massachusetts jail on a gun charge, the prosecutor said.
