The cause of death has been released for a popular actor who was born and grew up in the region.
The death of Alec Musser, age 50, was announced last weekend on Instagram by his fiancée Paige Press, who lived with Musser in Del Mar, California, north of San Diego.
According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Officer, Musser died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Connecticut mother who allegedly killed her three children before hanging herself was recently cited twice by the state for providing illegal daycare services.
The apparent triple murder-suicide in Fairfield County happened on Wednesday, July 27 in Danbury, on Whaley Street.

The first hearing has been held in a lawsuit filed by Gabby Petito’s family against the parents of her alleged killer and former fiancé Brian Laundrie.
The hearing happened on Wednesday, June 20 in Venice, Florida, will determine if the lawsuit filed by Petito's parents will continue to a jury trial.

Gruesome new details have been released in a 47-page report by a medical examiner as to the condition of Brian Laundrie's remains after they were discovered in an environmental preserve in Florida.

Brian Laundrie took responsibility for the death of his 22-year-old fiancé and fellow Long Island native, Gabby Petito, the FBI announced on Friday, Jan. 21.
The 24-year-old Laundrie was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Wednesday, Oct. 20 in a nature reserve near his home in North Port, Florida.
