Civic Leaders In 2 Cities Have Come Down With

Civic leaders in two cities west of Eastern Massachusetts announced that they have contracted COVID-19. On Wednesday, Dec. 9, the cities of Worcester and Agawam announced that their chief leaders had tested positive for COVID-19. In Worcester City, Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr., said he started feeling unwell on Tuesday, Dec. 8 and decided to self-quarantine even before learning he had indeed caught the disease. High-Risk City: All Holyoke Residents Encouraged To Get Free

Holyoke will soon have free COVID-19 testing sites for residents as the city is added to the growing list of “Stop the Spread” communities. Gov. Charlie Baker said, on Tuesday, Aug. 18, that facilities offering free COVID-19 testing will be added to Holyoke as well as Salem and Saugus. Several days ago, Holyoke and Granby were identified by state public health officials as Western Massachusetts communities with the highest risk of COVID-19 infection. The number of places providing COVID-19 testing has expanded over the last week as Massachusetts and surrounding states pass travel restrictions for people coming in from out of state. A lot of testing places will provide free tests to people with no health care insurance, according to the Massachusetts COVID-19 online resource center. 19: Free Testing Coming To Worcester County, Western Massachusetts
Targetted COVID-19 testing sites are being dispatched to hot spots in Worcester County and Western Massachusetts. On Monday, July 27, Gov. Charlie Baker announced the expansion of the “Stop the Spread” initiative, which provides free COVID-19 testing where it’s most needed. New testing sites in the Western part of the state include: Agawam Springfield Worcester. The sites are now being launched and will be available through Aug. 14.
