ID Released Of 2 Killed In Multiple Springfield Shootings
Springfield police have now released the names of three of the four people killed last week in different shootings across the city. Officials IDed the two men gunned down on Saturday, Aug. 12, on Wednesday. Abdikadir Hussein Abdi Hussein, 31, of Springfield, was found shot in the passenger seat of a wrecked vehicle on Boston Road near Parker Street just after 2:30 a.m., police said. Springfield police found a man and woman shot inside a crashed car early Saturday morning, Aug. 12, authorities said. Police were called to the Boston Road and Parker Street area just after 2:30 a.m. and found the smashed vehicle. Both people inside had been shot, Springfield police said. Emmanuel Hernandez-Garcia was shot at 7:45 p.m. on Hancock Street near the intersection of Union Street, Springfield police said. A teenager was arrested last week after officers found a loaded pistol on him inside a mall, authorities said. Police received a tip that the 15-year-old had a loaded pistol with an extended magazine on July 20, Springfield police said. Officers with the Firearms Investigation Unit began searching for the boy and found him around 7:30 p.m. at the Holyoke mall. He was captured without incident.
