Jori died on June 29 after a brief illness, the Holyoke Police Department announced on Facebook. Holyoke police are thanking one of their furry brethren for helping them track down a man with a violent history who allegedly strangled his girlfriend earlier this week before running into the woods, authorities said. The suspect, a 33-year-old man, whose name was not released, reportedly attacked his girlfriend at a home on Kennedy Circle and then ran away. Massachusetts K-9 Officer Fatally Shot During Armed Standoff In Central Mass
A Massachusetts K9 officer has died after an hours-long standoff in central Massachusetts, authorities said. K9 Frankie was shot while assisting officers during the standoff at 40 Oliver Street in Fitchburg, Massachusetts State Police said during a press conference. The standoff began shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, after investigators learned of an armed fugitive, later identified as Matthew Mack, who barricaded himself inside the building.
