Agawam Keeps Native American Sports Mascot, Bucks National Trend
As schools across the nation ditch race-based sports mascots, Agawam is holding on tight to its own controversial logo and team nickname. On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Agawam Town Council voted to keep the Agawam sports team nickname, “The Brownies,” as well as the district’s Native American caricature mascot.
