Two $1M Powerball Tickets Sold Less Than 3 Miles Apart In Central Mass
Two lucky lottery players in central Massachusetts are each $1 million richer after scoring big in the Powerball drawing held Wednesday, July 9. And the winners might even be neighbors. One winning ticket was sold at a Market Basket at 130 Water St. in Fitchburg. The other was sold at Country Farms at 689 North Main St. in Leominster. The two stores are less than three miles apart. It's a long, lucky weekend for one Bay Stater after they won $1 million playing in the Massachusetts State Lottery. The winner correctly guessed all five numbers in the "Mash Cash" drawing. A Worcester County grandfather may have to tip his grandson for his lucky $1 million windfall after he collected the winning ticket on his way back from his hockey game. Thomas Ruble of Ashburnham won his seven-figure windfall playing the "777" scratch-off game. Ruble chose to take the lump sum of $650,000 (before taxes) rather than the annuity.
