Fires were set in two of the old mill buildings in June, July, November, and December. The destruction released asbestos that the Department of Environmental Protection cleaned and is holding the property owner liable for costs. On Friday, Oct. 30, at around 2 p.m. police and FBI agents swarmed 946 Elm St. in West Springfield to execute a search warrant. After making entry, police allegedly found a large-scale cultivation operation in a commercial building with at least 14 grow rooms, police said. Two men have been arrested and 142 pounds of marijuana have been confiscated, the Springfield Police said.
