18 Casings Found On Roadway After Shots-Fired Incident In Western Mass Authorities in Western Massachusetts are looking for answers after multiple bullet casings were found on main road.  Police received several calls of automatic gunfire in Holyoke in the area of 85 Lower Westfield Road around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, Holyoke Police said.  Upon arrival, officers found 18 spend casings on the road. No injuries or property damage was initially reported, police said. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (413)322-6900. On Thursday, July 30, Skyzen Encarnacion, 19, of Springfield turned himself in at the Springfield Police Station in connection with the killing, police said. Encarnacion is being charged with murder. New Mental Health Hospital Coming To Pioneer Valley Baystate Health and Kindred Behavioral Health are teaming up to launch a 120-bed, $43 million mental health hospital, possibly in Holyoke. Springfield-based Baystate is eyeing the former home of the Holyoke Geriatric Authority on Lower Westfield Road as the possible site for the standalone behavioral health hospital, according to MassLive. The new hospital would employ 220 people and have a pediatric unit - a rarity for Massachusetts. Baystate will pay for $5 million of the construction with Kindred picking up the rest.
