'Our Family Has Long Awaited This Day': Worcester Man Admits To Killing Teacher's Aid In 2017
A judge sentenced a Worcester man who admitted to strangling a beloved teacher's aide to death in 2017 to spend nearly two decades behind bars, authorities announced this week. The woman's family said they were pleased with the ruling. Jose Melendez, 60, pleaded guilty Wednesday, Jan 18, to a voluntary manslaughter charge in the death of Sandra "Buffy" Hehir, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office said.
