A drive-by shooting in Western Massachusetts, the second in several days, caused extensive damage to the victim's home and vehicle. The incident took place in Hampden County around midnight on Wednesday, Aug. 18, in Holyoke. Officers responded to Homestead Avenue for reported shots fired, Holyoke PD Captain Matthew Moriarty said. A Western Massachusetts police officer barely missed being shot when a bullet flew through the windshield of his police cruiser while parked at city gas pumps. The incident took place at 9:40 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13, when a Hampden County officer from the Holyoke Police Department was parked at the city gas pumps on Commercial Street, Captain M. Police in Western Massachusetts are investigating a shooting that left a 25-year-old man dead. The Holyoke Police Department received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the area of Walnut Street on Sunday, Aug. 8, around 9:30 p.m., said Jim Leydon, spokesperson for the Hampden District Attorney’s Office. On Wednesday, July 27, at around 3:50 p.m., officers responded to the Westfield Bank in Holyoke, located at 1642 Northampton Street, after a report of an armed robbery. A card skimmer was discovered on an ATM machine at the Bank of America in Hampden County last month.
