Tanker Truck Crash Spills Hazardous Materials In Westborough
A tanker truck rolled over Thursday morning, Feb. 23, in Westborough, trapping the driver inside and spilling hazardous materials on the road. The crash happened at 50 Eli Whitney Street just after 11 a.m. Paramedics evaluated the driver, who declined to go to the hospital for minor injuries, Westborough firefighters said. Officials didn't say what spilled from the trucks — only classifying it as hazardous — but firefighters said drivers should avoid the area as they have closed the road while it is cleaned up.

Fire Breaks Out At Pepperidge Farm Facility In CT
A tent fire with several drums of toxic chemicals underneath halted production at a Connecticut Pepperidge Farm bakery plant. The incident took place around 4:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, at the bakery in Hartford County located at 1414 Blue Hills Ave. in Bloomfield. According to Blue Hills Fire Chief Willie Jones, firefighters arriving on the scene found several drums containing about 200 gallons of sulfuric acid under a tent-life structure burning. Terrorism Squad Investigates Powder Mailed To Western Mass Hospital
A federal terrorism task force is investigating a white powder that was mailed to a Western Massachusetts hospital. On Monday, Sept. 21, the Holyoke Fire Department responded to Holyoke Medical Center for a report of “unknown white powder” that arrived at the hospital in an envelope. Two staff members were exposed to the powder that fell out of the envelope when it opened, Holyoke firefighters said. Under the hospital’s emergency plan, the building was evacuated as a precaution.
