Jared Dewberry Guilty In Gary White Slaying In Springfield A Massachusetts man was sentenced to up to 20 years in state prison for the fatal shooting of a Springfield resident, closing a case that has gripped two local communities, authorities said.  Jared Dewberry, 27, of Agawam, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the 2023 killing of 25-year-old Gary White in Springfield, the Hampden County District Attorney's Office said Friday, Sept. 5. Along with the 18-to-20-year sentence, Judge Tracy E. Duncan handed down a 3-to-5-year prison term for illegal possession of a firearm.  Those sentences will run concurrently.  The case stems from…

Man Accused Of Reckless Driving With 3-Year-Old In Vehicle In Western Mass A man out on bail who authorities suspected had a gun was arrested after fleeing from police with a 3-year-old in the vehicle in Western Massachusetts. The incident took place in Hampden County in Springfield around 8 p.m. on Friday, May 27. Jesus Oquendo, age 23, of Springfield, was arrested after members of the Springfield police received information that he was in possession of a handgun while out on bail, said Ryan Walsh, spokesman for the Springfield Police.
