Community Rallies To Help People Who Lost Cars In Springfield Fire
Springfield firefighters were able to beat back a brush fire on Wednesday, April 12, before anyone was hurt, but two cars weren't so lucky. Now, the community is rallying to help raise money to replace those destroyed rides. The fire started around 250 Albany St. near Gasoline Alley. Fire crews were able to douse the blaze, but photos from the aftermath show how hot the flames got. Only the metal was left on one of the vehicles. Elderly Woman Killed In 2-Alarm House Fire In Central Mass: Fire Officials
A woman died Monday, April 3, in a two-alarm blaze in Worcester County, fire officials said. Westborough firefighters found the woman dead inside the home when they arrived at the 55 Belknap Street blaze, Fire Chief Patrick Purcell told Daily Voice. Investigators believe the woman was older than 65 and lived there, but officials haven't released her identity. Purcell said the woman's daughter called 911 around 1:45 p.m. when she saw smoke coming from the house. Police in Sturbridge are asking for the public's help to find a trio of kids who sparked a fire while playing with fireworks this week and then ran away.
