A bicyclist from Massachusetts has died after he was hit by a truck while competing in a race in Vermont last weekend, according to authorities.
Police responded to a crash between a pick-up truck and bicyclist near the intersection of Brook and Carter roads in Burke, VT, around 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, Vermont State Police report.
Initial investigation determined that the bicyclist, later identified as 54-year-old Richard Wanstall, of Marblehead, MA, was participating in a local race when he was hit by a Dodge truck.

State police cruisers were struck in separate Christmas Eve Day crashes in Connecticut - one in Fairfield County and the other in Middlesex County.
Just after 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, a Daibeliz Taveras, age 33, from Brooklyn, New York, traveling northbound on I-95 a half-mile south of the Exit 17 off-ramp in Norwalk lost control of her 2018 Dodge Journey and struck another vehicle, before drifting and colliding with the cruiser, state police said.

A Fairfield County man has admitted to his role in a car theft ring in Connecticut and neighboring states.
Christopher Mulkern, also known as “Chucky,” age 21, of Stratford, pleaded guilty Friday, April 30 before US District Court in Bridgeport to a federal car theft offense.
According to court documents and statements made in court, the FBI, Connecticut State Police, and local police have been investigating multiple car theft rings in Connecticut, and violent crimes that are being committed using stolen vehicles.

Man Found Sleeping In Stolen UConn Van Is Arrested
A man who police discovered sleeping in a stolen vehicle has been arrested.
Josue Pinto, 39, of New Britain, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 28, at around 10 a.m., and charged with larceny in the second degree, police said.
South Windsor Police were alerted to Pinto when they received a report of “suspicious circumstances” at a construction site: a man sleeping in a blue Dodge with “UConn” on the side, police said.
When police arrived on the scene they found Pinto who allegedly admitted to entering a UConn office on the Storrs campus, taking a set of keys, and stealing a van, police said.
