Ice Cream Truck Robbed, May Close For Good
Following a motor vehicle break-in, a popular ice cream truck is cutting the season short and possibly closing for good. On Saturday, Oct. 17, Mary Neumeister owner of Nanas Ice Cream of Springfield said her ice cream truck had been broken into. Someone stole all the ice cream and damaged the vehicle including cutting out a few feet of the exhaust pipe and taking the catalytic converter. “It is with great sadness and hurt in my heart that I let you all know unfortunately Nanas Ice Cream season is cut sort and quite possibly out of business permanently,” Neumeister said in a Facebook post. …

WMass Mother Dies Days After Giving Birth; Community Steps Up To Support Family
Allyson Lanoue died a few days after giving birth, and now the community has come out to support her surviving family. On July 23, Lanoue, of West Springfield, went to the hospital for a scheduled C-section, her fiance Adam Tirrell said. She gave birth to her second child, a daughter she named Charlotte Rose. Then on the morning of July 26, Lanoue became unresponsive in the hospital. For decades a man who is known to most people as “Bunny” has been standing at the intersection of McKinstry Avenue and Dale Street in Chicopee waving to passersby regardless of the weather. Often wearing suspenders, Bunny is a common site for many Chiicopee residents who wave and call out hello to him as they drive or walk by.
