Brushfire Torches 36 Acres In Central Mass: Firefighters
A Worcester County brush fire that began on Friday, April 14, burned throughout the night, but officials say it has been contained thanks to the work of 14 fire departments and more than 45 firefighters. The Sterling Fire Department said the blaze was sparked near Chace Hill and Metropolitan roads on Friday morning. The fire sent up clouds of smoke that could be seen from miles away. Drones, Crews Snuff Massive Brush Fire In Tricky Auburn Terrain: Officials
Fire crews had their work cut out for them when they tackled a large brush fire in Central Massachusetts this weekend, officials said. Fire officials got a call from a motorist on the Mass Pike reporting a large brush fire about a 1/4 mile off Crowl Hill Road in Auburn around 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, according to Auburn Fire Rescue on Facebook. Brush Fire Torches 11 Acres At Former Western Mass Landfill
Firefighters from several departments helped contain an 11-acre brush fire that occurred in Hampshire County Tuesday, the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services said in a release. Granby firefighters responded to the fire in area of a former landfill at 11 New Ludlow Road around 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, the department said. Fire crews are back at work on Monday morning, May 17 after spending the weekend battling a massive brush fire that broke out in Berkshire County. On Friday, May 14, a fire was first reported in Williamstown near Henderson Road, prompting a response from area departments as it quickly spread from approximately 180 acres of land to upwards 300 acres as of Sunday, May 16. Clocks moved ahead an hour overnight for the start of Daylight Saving Time, but there's been no change in the dry, blustery conditions that marked the start of the weekend. Winds will be out of the Northwest with speeds of 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 mph that could lead to power outages on Sunday, March 14.
