But Danielle Spencer’s legacy stretched far beyond the spotlight.
Spencer, who charmed audiences as Dee Thomas on the hit late 1970s ABC-TV sitcom and later became a respected veterinarian and animal advocate, died Monday, Aug. 11 in Richmond, Virginia, at age 60 after a long battle with cancer.
The news was confirmed by her longtime friend and co-star Haywood Nelson via social media on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

With summer-like heat moving in, health officials have issued a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for much of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and the Philadelphia metro area on Wednesday, June 4 (scroll down to check your town's air quality index).

Two Men In Western Mass Busted With 20,000 Bags of Heroin, Fentanyl: Police
Springfield police working alongside Massachusetts State Police and the DEA said they scored a major drug bust over the weekend when they found 20,000 bags of fentanyl and heroin.
Omar Roman, 48, of Springfield, and Luis Robelo, 51, of Bronx, NY, were arrested on Sunday, Oct. 16, and charged with trafficking more than 200 grams of heroin/fentanyl, police said.

Cuomo Doubles Down, Saying He Won't Quit Despite New Calls To Resign From Influential Democrats
Saying "what's being alleged simply did not happen," New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that despite growing calls to step down amid a flurry of sexual harassment allegations, he will not resign.
"I never harassed anyone, I have never abused anyone, I have never assaulted anyone, and I never would," Cuomo said in a conference call with reporters early Friday afternoon, March 12.
